The LORD passed before him & proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful & gracious, slow to anger, & abounding in steadfast love & faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity & transgression & sin, BUT WHO WILL BY NO MEANS CLEAR THE GUILTY, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children & the children’s children, to the third & the fourth generation." Ex.34:6-7...
....by becoming sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God thru faith in HIM. His perfect life in place of our sinful one. His obedience in place of our disobedience. His perfect love of God in place of our idolatrous hearts. Jesus took our punishment, He took our place. God's justice--His wrath--was poured out on Jesus Christ...God's justice was satisfied and we, in exchange, experience His mercy and EVERY blessing of His Kingdom.
But now the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD has been manifested APART from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God THRU faith in Jesus Christ for ALL WHO BELIEVE. For there is no distinction: FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD, and are JUSTIFIED by his grace as a gift, THRU the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation (to appease or conciliate) BY HIS BLOOD, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that HE might be JUST AND THE JUSTIFIER OF THE ONE WHO HAS FAITH IN JESUS. -Romans 3:21-26
"This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in NO ONE ELSE, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:11-13
